Looking Inward: Explain your results
In class we made rocket engines. I thought my groups rocket engine worked pretty well. Our engine made a lot of fuel and a made a pretty loud hissing noise, we all stepped back. All of the fuel in the pvc pipe burned really well. My group and I thought that would have generate a strong upward force if it were not held in place.
Looking Outward: Collaboration
I worked with Meghan ,Darcy, and Brianna on this lab. I think we worked pretty well together because we understood the steps to make the engine. They were all really excited to help and do stuff for this lab. I don't think I want to work with these girls for the next lab I think I want to spread my wings and work with other people for the next lab.
Looking Beyond: What happened in the engine?
When the solid fuel in the rocket starts to burn after the fuse is lit, pressure builds up in the pipe. The hole that was drilled on top though the cement allowed for pressure escape. The size of the whole was very important because it decided how much pressure would let on an area and meaning the force the motor would have.
Looking Forward: What Next?
This lab was really interesting I may try making a rocket I am not sure take aways this lab allowed me to learn about how a rocket engine works, and why solid fuel is used instead of its liquid counterpart
